Job Type: Full-time/part-time; may include scheduled evening and weekend rotations Compensation: $15-$18/hr Benefits Paid Time Off (PTO): 2 weeks; Paid Sick Leave: 1 week; Other benefits per company policy Reports to: Medical and Community Health Directors Job Purpose: This position exists to support LifeSpring providers in delivering exceptional healthcare. This is accomplished by providing administrative and translation support throughout the patient’s visit. The position promotes physical, mental, and spiritual health for urban families in Chattanooga by reducing barriers to healthcare, promoting healthy behaviors and connecting families to supporting resources.

Skills and Qualifications

Fluent in both written and spoken English and Spanish

Compassionate, relational, and self-motivated

Understanding of and experience in urban Chattanooga communities

Knowledge of local services and resources

2 years undergraduate college experience minimum, degree preferred; pre-health major preferred. Gap year ideal

Prior experience in community health, social services, or medical scribing preferred

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Complete Medical Scribe training online course and subsequent in-office training

Accurately document the provider/patient encounter within 24-48 hours of the patient encounter

Submit EMR documentation to the provider for review and revise as directed by the provider

Enter paper billing sheet into EMR within 24-48 hours of encounter

Interpret as needed for the provider and patient/patient family while also documenting visit

Perform CHW duties as relevant during patient visits with provider Screen families for resource needs and connect families to supporting community resources

Complete home visits to provide health education and information about community resources

Stay up to date on services provided by local government, nonprofits, churches and other organizations.

Assist in building relationships with the schools and after school programs

Identify and recruit patients for healthy behavior intervention focused on healthy eating and physical activity

Work one on one with families to set health goals, provide health education and support families as they make health related changes

Provide feedback to LifeSpring staff on community concerns, needs and desires.

Act as an advocate and champion for patients and their families. Represent LifeSpring at community events as needed

Meet routinely with Community Health Team and attend staff trainings
